SEOBNRv6EHM: eccentric and unbound binaries

We released SEOBNRv6EHM, a new effective-one-body waveform model that extends the SEOBNR family to binary black holes on generic planar orbits — bound eccentric orbits, as well as dynamical captures and scattering encounters — and applied it to the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA catalog to study the imprint of orbital eccentricity on the inferred source properties.

The new model is both faster and more accurate than its predecessor, SEOBNRv5EHM, and will serve as the basis for an upcoming eccentric, precessing model. Stay tuned!
